狙玃 [macaque and great ape] (The upper character is pronounced with the fanqie qī + yú. The Guangya says: "Jū is a type of macaque." The Shuowen says: "Of the jué kind. It takes the dog radical and qiě as phonetic." The lower character is pronounced with the fanqie jū + yuè. Guo's commentary on the Erya says: "Resembles a macaque but is larger, dark grey-black, able to seize and hold humans, and likes to look around with darting eyes." The Shuowen says: "A female monkey.
