剛愎（憑逼反杜注左傳愎戾也佷也說文從心复聲复音伏）。

"Obstinate and perverse" (剛愎): [愎 is pronounced with the fanqie] ping + bi (bi). Du [Yu]'s commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: 'Bi (愎) means perverse; it means refractory.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It has the mind radical (心) and fu (复) phonetic.' 复 is pronounced fu.
