倭國（烏波反郭注山海經云倭國在帶方東大海內以女為俗無針工以丹朱塗身也說文亦東海中國也從人委聲）。

倭國 (The fanqie is [烏 + 波]: wō. Guo [Pu]’s commentary on the Shanhaijing says: “The country of Wa lies in the vast ocean east of Daifang; by custom women rule; they have no sewing artisans, and smear their bodies with cinnabar.” Shuowen jiezi also says it is a state in the Eastern Sea; it is formed from “person” (人) with 委 phonetic).
