躍鞘（霄曜反方言劒削也關東謂之削關西謂之鞞顧野王云所以貯刀劒之刃也考聲鞘刀劒室也或從韋作鞘或從刀作削並通用鞞音壁茗反茗音冥並反）。

躍鞘 (pronounced *xiāo-yào* [qiào]. The *Fangyan* says: A sword scabbard (*xiào*); east of the pass it is called *xiào*, west of the pass it is called *bǐng*. Gu Yewang says: That which holds the blade of a knife or sword. The *Kaosheng* says: A *qiào* is a sheath for knives and swords; it is either written with 'leather' as 鞘 or with 'knife' as 削, both used interchangeably. *Bǐng* is pronounced *bì-mǐng* [bǐng]; *mǐng* is pronounced *míng-bìng* [mǐng]).
