鸊鷈(上并伇反下體低反方言野鳧小而沒水中者南楚之外謂之鸊鷈其大者謂之鶻啼郭注爾雅云膏可以瑩刀也說文並從鳥辟虒皆聲虒音同上集作鷈俗字也)。

Piti 鸊鷈 (The first character is pronounced with the fanqie phonetic spelling bing + yi [pì]; the second is pronounced ti + di [tí]. The Fangyan says: "Small wild ducks that submerge in water are called piti beyond Southern Chu, while the larger ones are called huti." Guo [Pu]'s commentary to the Erya says: "Its grease can be used to polish swords." The Shuowen says: "Both take 鳥 as radical, with 辟 and 虒 respectively as phonetics; the pronunciation of 虒 is the same as the character below it." The collected edition gives 鷈, which is a vulgar variant).
