Pushing through mists and clouds [撥煙霞] (First character: bu-mo fan [bō]; Guangya: "Bo [撥] means to clear away." Zheng's commentary to the Liji: "To sweep aside." Shuowen: "To manage; composed of 'hand' [手] with 'fa' [發] phonetic." Second character: yan-xian fan [yān]; Shuowen: "Vapour of fire; composed of 'fire' [火] with 'yin' [垔] phonetic; sometimes written as 烟." Kaosheng: "Primordial breath." Yin [垔] is pronounced yin. Third character: xia-jia fan [xiá]; Yunying: "Solar vapor." Wang Yi's commentary to the Chuci: "The reddish-yellow vapor when the sun is about to rise." Kaosheng: "Red clouds at the horizon."
