Broad and narrow (廣陿: the fanqie of 咸 and 甲. Gu Yewang states: "陿 means cramped and narrow, not broad and large." The Gujin zhengzi gives it with the radical 𠂤 and 匧 [as phonetic]; 匧 has the sound with the fanqie of 謙 and 叶. It is also written as 陜, which arose from confusing and merging it with the character for Shaan Prefecture (陜州). In the scriptures it is written with the dog radical as 狹; this is an erroneous substitution and not the primary character).
