Mane hair 鬣毛 (fanqie: 廉輙 [liè]; Gu Yewang says: "The long hair on a horse's neck"; he also says: "The long hair on the neck of any beast is called 鬣"; the Shuowen says: "鬣 means neck-hair; formed from the radical 髟 with the phonetic 鼠; it is also written with the radical 毛 as 㲱, or with the radical 犭 as 獵, all having the same meaning"; 髟 has the fanqie: 必遙 [biāo]; 鼠 has the same sound as above).
