牛糞 (*niúfèn*, cow dung; [the second character has] the fanqie 分問 [*fēn* + *wèn*]. In Sanskrit it is called *gomaya*. The *Shuowen* says: "To discard and remove; it is composed of hands pushing and sweeping away grain; an associative compound." The top part is pronounced *bān*; the pushing hands are pronounced with the fanqie 土雷 [*tǔ* + *léi*]; the grain character is not actually rice, but the ancient character for excrement [矢]).
