白癩 (lower: *laj* + *taj* [lài]: The *Wenji jilüe* says: '癩 is an affliction.' The *Shuowen jiezi* writes it as 厲, meaning a noxious pestilence. The *Wenzidian shuo* says: 'Follows the illness radical with the phonetic *lài* (賴)').
