湫水 (The fanqie is jiǔ + yóu [qiū]. Upon examination, a qiū is a pool with water that harbors a dragon. It may be in a deep ravine where a collapsed mountain blocked the water to form a dragon pool, or on a plain with rivers and marshes; whenever there is a pool with water harboring a dragon, it is called a qiū, and one may go there to pray. The Shuowen jiezi states: "A low, narrow place; it takes its radical from shuǐ ('water') and its sound from qiū").
