To disclose and reveal (披𧩯: for the first character, fanqie pǔ-mí. The Zuozhuan says: "Pī (披) means to divide." The Guangya says: "To unfold; a phono-semantic character." The second is fanqie sū-gù, the standard character form. The Kaosheng says: "To expound and explain principles." The Shuowen jiezi says: "To proclaim; composed of speech (言) with chè (㡿) phonetic." Sometimes written as 諊; 㡿 is pronounced chǐ; the Shuowen jiezi says it is composed of yǎn (广), pronounced yǎn, and nì (屰), nì also being phonetic. In the sūtra text, writing it as 𠨭 is incorrect; nì is pronounced nì).
