Encroaching on emptiness ([(土/儿/夕)*力]虛: the first is pronounced with the fanqie 力徵 [líng]. The Yupian says: "To encroach upon and insult; sometimes written simply as 夌." The Shuowen says: "夌 means to overstep; deriving from 'strength' [力] with 夌 as phonetic." In the sūtra text it is frequently written with the mound radical [阜] as 陵, which refers to hills and mounds; or with 'water' or with the 'ice' radical—all of which are not the original character).
