Massed arrows (欑[身*(秦-禾)]: the first character *fanqie* 殂 + 巒. Zheng Xuan’s commentary to the *Liji* says: “欑 means to gather together.” *Shuowen jiezi* says: “To accumulate; composed of 木 [‘wood’] with 贊 as phonetic.” The second character is *fanqie* 食 + 亦. *Shuowen jiezi* says: “Arrows (𰸼) and crossbow bolts are released from the body to strike far away; composed of 身 [‘body’] with 𠂕 as phonetic.” The seal script writes it with 寸 [‘inch’], representing measurement; this agrees with the treatise).
