Lame and dull (蹇鈍: the upper character [蹇] is pronounced jian-yan fan; the Kaosheng says: "蹇 means difficult." The Shuowen says: "蹇 means lame; it takes 足 as semantic and the abbreviated 寒 as phonetic." The lower character [鈍] is pronounced tu-kun fan; the Cang Jie pian says: "鈍 means stubborn." The Shenglei says: "鈍 means not sharp." The Shuowen says: "It takes 金 as semantic and 毛 as phonetic").
