髣髴 (vaguely, faintly): The first character is the fanqie 芳 (f-) + 罔 (wǎng) [fǎng]. The second character is the fanqie 忿 (f-) + 勿 (wù) [fù]; also pronounced with the fanqie 芳 (f-) + 味 (wèi) [fèi]. The Hanshu says: "髣髴 means resembling, seen or heard unclearly." The character dictionary says: "Seen indistinctly." 髣 is sometimes written with the person radical as 仿, with the same pronunciation and use; 髴 is also sometimes written with the person radical as 佛, or with the heart radical as 𢘍, having the same meaning.
