Anvil and mallet [碪椎] (The upper character is 縶 plus 林 fanqie. The *Shuowen* has it with 'stone' [石] and 甚 phonetic. In the treatise, writing it with 占 as 砧 is vulgar but acceptable. The lower character is 直 plus 追 fanqie. The *Taigong Liutao* states: "A square-headed iron mallet weighing eight catties, with a handle five feet long." Gu Yewang states: "That by which objects are struck." The *Shuowen* has it with 'wood' [木] and 隹 phonetic. In the treatise, it is written as 搥, which is incorrect. 縶 is pronounced 砧 plus 立 fanqie).
