Bonds and fetters [纍紲] (The upper character is 律 plus 追 fanqie; the lower character is 仙 plus 列 fanqie. Kong's commentary on the *Analects* states: "纍 is a black cord; 紲 means to bind; that by which criminals are restrained." Wang Yi's commentary on the *Chuci* states: "紲 means to tie." In the *Shuowen*, both characters have 'silk' [系], with 畾 and 世 as their respective phonetics; 畾 is pronounced 雷. In the treatise, writing it with 累 as 縲 is incorrect).
