Low-lying and narrow (湫隘: the first [character] is *jiao-xiao* [j- + -iǎo = jiǎo] in fanqie; the Kaosheng says: “It means low ground and moreover narrow.” The second is *e-jie* [è + j- = ài] in fanqie; the Kaosheng says: “隘 means cramped and narrow; to pass through a defile”).
