Soaring crane-like bird (翔鶤: the second [character] is *gu-men* [g- + -ūn = gūn] in fanqie; the Erya says: “A fowl three feet tall is called a 鶤.” Wang Yi’s commentary on the Songs of Chu says: “The 鶤 resembles a crane but is larger.” The Gujin zhengzi states: “Categorized under 'bird' with 軍 as phonetic.” In the treatise it is written with 昆 as 鵾, which is interchangeable and identical in meaning).
