跂踵 (The first character has the fanqie [棄 + 止]: qǐ. The second character has the fanqie [鍾 + 勇]: zhǒng. The Shanhaijing mentions the Country of Qizhong, whose people both have large feet. Guo [Pu]’s commentary says: “When those people walk, their heels do not touch the ground.” Shuowen jiezi notes that both are formed from “foot” (足), with 支 and 重 as their phonetics. 跟 is pronounced gēn).
