麕麚 (The first character has the fanqie [居 + 筠]: jūn. Liu Zhao’s commentary on the Gongyang [zhuan] says jūn is the river deer (zhāng). Shuowen jiezi says it is formed from “deer” (鹿) with an abbreviated 囷 phonetic. The second character has the fanqie [革 + 瑕]: jiā. The Erya says jiā is a male deer. Shuowen jiezi says it is formed from “deer” (鹿) with 叚 phonetic).
