旗幟 (The first character has the fanqie [渠 + 基]: qí. Du [Yu]’s commentary on the Zuozhuan says a qí is an insignia flag. Shuowen jiezi says it is formed from 㫃 with 其 phonetic. The second character has the fanqie [昌 + 志]: zhì. Shiji states: “Each person held an insignia flag.” Guangya says a zhì is a streamer. Shuowen jiezi says it is formed from “cloth” (巾) with 戠 phonetic. The character 𭤨 is pronounced yǎn; 戠 has the fanqie [之 + 習]: zhí).
