捐棄（上悅玄反考聲云捐棄也俗作捐從手涓省聲也下輕異反說文棄捐也從廾音拱從枼音鉢安反從云音土骨反云逆子也倒書子字推而棄之會意字也）。

捐棄 [to abandon and discard] (The upper character is pronounced with the fanqie 悅玄 [yuān]. The Kaosheng says: “捐 means to discard.” Popularly it is written as 捐, formed from 手 [hand] with an abbreviated 涓 as the phonetic element. The lower character is pronounced with the fanqie 輕異 [qì]. The Shuowen jiezi says: “To discard and cast away; formed from 廾, pronounced 拱 [gǒng], from 枼, pronounced with the fanqie 鉢安 [bān], and from 云, pronounced with the fanqie 土骨 [tǔ], which represents an unfilial son: writing the character for child (子) upside down and pushing it away to cast it off. It is an ideographic compound”).
