媿恧（上歸位反杜注左傳云媿慙也耻也說文云從女鬼聲或從心作愧亦通下女六反爾雅云心媿為恧說文云亦慙也從心而音同上𮕜字無下畫也）。

媿恧 [ashamed and mortified] (The upper character is pronounced with the fanqie 歸位 [kuì]. Du [Yu]'s commentary to the Zuo zhuan says: “媿 means ashamed; humiliated.” The Shuowen jiezi says: “Formed from 女 [woman] with 鬼 as the phonetic element; it is also written with 心 [heart] as 愧, which is also accepted.” The lower character is pronounced with the fanqie 女六 [nù]. The Erya says: “A feeling of shame in the heart is 恧.” The Shuowen jiezi says: “It also means ashamed; formed from 心 [heart] with 而 as the phonetic element, with the same sound as the character above, without the bottom stroke”).
