砥掌（上脂履反杜注左傳云砥平也蒼頡篇云磨礪石也經文從手作抵擊也非平如砥掌義）。

Whetstone-flat palm (砥掌: the upper character has the fanqie 脂履. Du [Yu]'s commentary to the Zuo zhuan says: "Dǐ (砥) means flat." The Cang Jie pian says: "A whetstone." In the sūtra text it is written with [the radical] 'hand' (手) as 抵, meaning to strike, which is not the meaning of 'flat as a whetstone and a palm').
