䡈試（上江岳反說文云䡈見也又明也爾雅云直也古今正字試優劣也從車爻聲傳文從交作較俗字亦通也）。

Jiaoshi 䡈試 (The first character has the fanqie phonetic spelling [j- + -uè > j-] jiāng yuè 反. The Shuowen jiezi says: "Jiao 䡈 means to appear; it also means clear." The Erya says: "Straight." The Gujin zhengzi states: "To test superior and inferior." It takes the cart radical with 爻 as the phonetic. Transmitted texts write it as 較 with 交, which is also acceptable as a popular character).
