[袖-由+弇]興(上說文作弇字音衣檢反爾雅云弇曰為蔽雲郭注云暈氣五彩覆日也又釋言云弇蓋也說文從廾合廾音拱今錄文作揜說文閉也又音烏敢反手大物也於此用疎也)。

Rising to cover (弇興: the first character is written 弇 in the Shuowen jiezi; its pronunciation is the fanqie 衣檢 [y- + -æm = yǎn]. The Erya says: 'When the sun is obscured by clouds, it is called yan (弇).' Guo [Pu's] commentary says: 'A halo of five-colored vapors covering the sun.' Furthermore, the Shiyan says: 'Yan (弇) means to cover.' In the Shuowen jiezi it is composed of 廾 and 合; 廾 is pronounced gong. In the present catalog text it is written as 揜; the Shuowen jiezi says it means to close; another pronunciation is the fanqie 烏敢 [w- + -ɑm = ǎn], meaning to cover large objects by hand, which is loosely applied here).
