殫玉講（上當安反孔注尚書云殫盡也說文訓同從歺單聲案本傳云究金言殫玉牒或作牒字破邪論中琳公啟與此同亦作牒字即白牒梵夾經論也今此別傳作玉講於義未詳矣）。

Exhausting the jade lectures (殫玉講: the first character is [pronounced with the fanqie] dang + an; Kong's commentary to the Shangshu says that dan means "to exhaust"; the Shuowen gives the same gloss, formed from evil/bare-bone [歺] with dan as phonetic; examining the original biography, it says: "fathoming the golden words and exhausting the jade tablets [玉牒]"; some write it with the character die [牒, tablet]; in the Poxie lun, Venerable Lin's memorial agrees with this and also writes the character die [牒], which means white birch-bark and Sanskrit pothi sūtras and treatises; now this separate biography writes "jade lectures" [玉講], whose meaning is not yet clear).
