㴱穽（上式針反爾雅云𤀹幽深也字書云深遠反下疾政反尚書云敜乃穽傳云穽陷也考聲云阮也謂陷獸阬也從穴井聲又作阱字音訓同敜音尼輒反）。

Deep pitfall (㴱穽: the first character is pronounced with the fanqie 式針 [ś- + -im = shēn]. The Erya says: 'A deep pool is deep (𤀹).' A dictionary says: 'Deep and distant.' The second character is pronounced with the fanqie 疾政 [dz- + -iɛŋ = jìng]. The Shangshu says: 'Fill up your pitfalls (穽).' The commentary says: 'Jing (穽) means a pitfall trap.' The Kaosheng says: 'A pit,' that is, a pit dug to trap beasts. It takes the cave radical [穴] with 井 as phonetic. It is also written 阱; its sound and meaning are the same. 敜 is pronounced with the fanqie 尼輒 [n- + -iɛp = niè]).
