嫡嗣（上丁歷反切韻正也字書云長也爾雅曰長婦為嫡也下祥志反爾雅嗣續也）。

嫡嗣 (legitimate heir: the first character is *d[īng]-l[ì]* fan; the Qieyun states: “Legitimate.” Character dictionaries state: “Eldest.” The Erya states: “The senior wife is the 嫡 [*dí*].” The second character is *xi[áng]-zh[ì]* fan; the Erya states: “嗣 [*sì*] means to succeed”).
