齧齒（上五結反韻英云噬也咬也說文云從齒契省聲經文從口作嚙俗字契音苦結反）。

齧齒 (gnashing the teeth: the first character is *w[ǔ]-ji[é]* fan; the Yunying states: “To bite; to gnaw.” The Shuowen jiezi states that it is classified under 齒 [teeth] with 契 abbreviated as phonetic. The sūtra text writing it with 口 [mouth] as 嚙 is a vulgar variant. 契 is pronounced *k[ǔ]-ji[é]* fan).
