賑給（上章刃反馬注論語云賑窮乏也考聲云賑亦給也說文從貝辰聲下居立反切韻供也散與也說文云從糸從合聲也上賑又音之忍反）。

賑給 (The first character is pronounced with the fanqie *zh-*, [zhen], from 章 and 刃. Ma's commentary on the *Analects* states: '賑 means to relieve the destitute and needy.' The *Kaosheng* states: '賑 also means to supply.' The *Shuowen* has it taking 貝 [cowrie] as semantic and 辰 as phonetic. The second character is pronounced with the fanqie *j-*, [ji], from 居 and 立. The *Qieyun* states: 'It means to provide; it means to distribute and give.' The *Shuowen* states: 'It takes 糸 as semantic and 合 as phonetic.' The first character, 賑, is also pronounced with the fanqie *zh-*, [zhen], from 之 and 忍.)
