浣染（上洹管反公羊傳注云去舊垢曰浣鄭箋毛詩云浣謂洗滌也說文云澣濯從水幹聲下如琰反廣雅云染污也說文云以繒染為綵也從水杂聲杂音同上）。

Wash and dye (浣染: the first character has the fanqie 洹 + 管. The Gongyang commentary note says: "Removing old grime is called huan." Zheng [Xuan's] commentary on the Mao Poetry says: "Huan means to wash." The Shuowen jiezi says: "Huan means to rinse; it takes the water radical [水] with 幹 as phonetic." The second character has the fanqie 如 + 琰. The Guangya says: "To contaminate." The Shuowen jiezi says: "Dyeing silk into patterned colors; it takes the water radical [水] with 杂 as phonetic." Za (杂) has the same sound as the above).
