蚊蚋（上音文莊子云蟭螟巢於蚊眉下而稅反小蚊蚋說文云秦人謂之蚋楚人謂之蚊通俗文云蜎化為蚋也蜎音血緣反又作蚉蜹二形）。

蚊蚋 (The first character has the sound wen. The Zhuangzi says: 'Midges nest in the eyelashes of mosquitoes.' The second character has the fanqie er + shui, meaning tiny mosquitoes and gnats. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'The people of Qin called them rui; the people of Chu called them wen.' The Tongsu wen says: 'Larvae transform into gnats.' 蜎 has the fanqie xue + yuan. It is also written in the two variant forms 蚉 and 蜹).
