Sweet spring (醴泉: for the upper, lái + qǐ [lǐ]; the Erya says, "When sweet rain falls in due season and the myriad things flourish, it is called a sweet spring." The Ruiying tu says, "When a ruler's food and drink are pure and harmonious, sweet springs gush forth; drinking them causes longevity." The Dongguan Hanji says, "In the first year of the Zhongyuan era of Emperor Guangwu, a sweet spring emerged in the capital; those who drank it were cured of chronic illnesses." The Shuowen derives it from 酉 with 豊 as phonetic).
