卜筮（上博木反尚書云我卜河朔孔傳曰卜必先墨畫龜然後灼之兆順食墨吉也下時制反說文蓍曰筮決也世本云巫咸作筮故從竹從巫也）。

卜筮: The upper [character is read with the] fanqie bo + mu. The Shangshu states: 'I divined by tortoise-shell (bu) regarding the northern bank of the He.' Kong's Commentary states: 'In divination by tortoise, one must first ink the shell and then scorch it; if the omen conforms and follows the ink, it is auspicious.' The lower [character is read with the] fanqie shi + zhi. The Shuowen jiezi states: '[Divination with] milfoil is called shi (筮); it means to determine.' The Shiben states: 'Wu Xian invented milfoil divination; hence it is formed from [the radical for] bamboo (竹) and wu (巫).'
