拊擊（上孚武反切韻拍也下古歷反切韻打也尚書舜典曰擊石拊石百獸率舞孔傳曰拊亦擊也二字並從手付毄皆聲也）。

To strike and tap (fuji 拊擊: the first character has the fanqie [reading] fu + wu [fu]. The Qieyun says: "To clap." The second character has the fanqie [reading] gu + li [ji]. The Qieyun says: "To beat." The "Canon of Shun" in the Classic of Documents says: "I strike the stones and tap the stones, and all the animals follow along and dance." Kong [Anguo's] commentary says: "拊 also means to strike." Both characters take 'hand' [as semantic component], with 付 and 毄 both serving as phonetics).
