波濤（上博科反切韻云水波濤也爾雅曰大波為瀾小波為淪也說文從水波省聲下徒刀反考聲濤浪浪也說文三波曰濤從水壽省聲）。

Billowing waves (bota 波濤: the first character has the fanqie [reading] bo + ke [bo]. The Qieyun says: "Waves and billows of water." The Erya says: "Large waves are lan; small waves are lun." The Shuowen [jiezi] says it takes 'water' [as semantic component] and an abbreviated bo as phonetic. The second character has the fanqie [reading] tu + dao [tao]. The Kaosheng says: "Billows surging." The Shuowen [jiezi] says: "Surging waves are called tao." It takes 'water' [as semantic component] and an abbreviated shou as phonetic).
