Banners and pennants (幖幟) (the first character is bu + yao fan [biāo]; Shuowen says: "A banner worn on the head." Formed with the jin [cloth] signific and piao phonetic. The scripture writes 摽 with the hand radical, meaning to signal or the tip of a tree. The second character is chi + zhi fan [zhì]; Qieyun: "Pennant." Character dictionaries: "Flag/marker." Boya writes [巾*(土/心)], which is the same. The scripture text writes 𢡠 with the xin [heart] radical, which is a slight error).
