惡獸（下舒救反切韻守也國語云獸三為群字林云兩足曰禽四足曰獸說文從犬嘼聲嘼音丑救反經文作狩冬獵也非此用）。

Vicious beasts [惡獸] (The second character has the fanqie phonetic spelling 舒 + 救; the Qieyun says to guard; the Discourses of the States states: "Three beasts make a herd"; the Zilin says: "Two-legged ones are called birds; four-legged ones are called beasts"; the Shuowen says it is composed of dog [犬] with 嘼 as the phonetic; 嘼 has the fanqie phonetic spelling 丑 + 救; the sūtra text writes 狩, which is winter hunting, not what is used here).
