鹹滷（上胡緘反爾雅曰鹹苦也切韻不淡也亦作醎俗字下即古反說文云西方鹹地爾雅滷苦也從水鹵聲經文單作鹵音雖同鹵簿樂也）。

Briny and bitter [鹹滷] (The first character has the fanqie phonetic spelling 胡 + 緘; the Erya states: "Xian means bitter"; the Qieyun says not insipid; it is also written as 醎 in vulgar form. The second character has the fanqie phonetic spelling 即 + 古; the Shuowen says: "Saline land in the West"; the Erya says: "Lu means bitter"; it is composed of water [水] with 鹵 as the phonetic; the sūtra text writes simply 鹵, whose sound is the same, but it refers to ceremonial guard music).
