目鍵連（中音健梵語訛也或云目揵連或作楗音渠焉反正云摩訶目特伽羅此云大採菽氏或云菉豆子母是採菉豆仙人種也從母得名也從父應云俱利迦也）。

目鍵連 (The middle character is pronounced *jian*. It is a corrupt Sanskrit transcription; it is also written as 目揵連 or 楗, with the fanqie *qu* + *yan* [qian]. The correct form is Mahāmaudgalyāyana. Translated, this means 'Great Bean-Gatherer Clan', or 'Mung-Bean Child'. His mother belonged to the lineage of bean-gathering rṣis, and he took his name from his mother. If named after his father, he should be called Kolita.)
