蚊虻（上音文下陌枋反莊子云蚊虻𠾱痛是也聲類云虻似蠅而大也說文齧人飛蟲也正從䖵盲省作虻今作虻略也）。

蚊虻 (The first character is pronounced *wen*. The second character has the fanqie *mo* + *fang* [meng]. The *Zhuangzi* states: "Mosquitoes and gadflies bite painfully"—this is it. The *Shenglei* states: "A gadfly resembles a fly but is larger." The *Shuowen* states: "A flying insect that bites people. The regular form takes the 'insect' (䖵) radical with an abbreviated phonetic *mang* 盲, making 虻; now it is written in simplified form as 虻.")
