作縛(下直兖反尒雅云十羽謂之縛左傳云縛謂卷物也按經以髮作縛即卷髮為結也今作篆字乃周宣王太史所作大篆秦相李斯小篆並字書名甚乖經旨也)。

作縛 (The second character has the fanqie *zhi* + *yan* [zhuan]. The *Erya* states: "Ten feathers are called a *zhuan* (縛)." The *Zuozhuan* states: "*Zhuan* means to roll something up." According to the sūtra, 'making a *zhuan*' refers to rolling up the hair into a topknot. It is written now as the seal script character *zhuan* 篆, which refers to the large seal script created by Grand Astrologer [Shi Zhou] under King Xuan of Zhou and the small seal script of Chancellor Li Si of Qin; both are script styles in paleography, which completely departs from the meaning of the sūtra.)
