五始: Examining the Sanwu liji, it states: 'When energy and form are not yet divided, it is called the Great Change (Taiyi). When the primordial energy first begins to sprout, it is called the Great Beginning (Taichu). The inception of energy and form is called the Great Origin (Taishi). When form transforms into material substance, it is called the Great Simplicity (Taisu). When material substance and form are already complete, it is called the Great Ultimate (Taiji). These are the Five Beginnings.'
