祝詛(上之受反說文作詶亦詛也今作咒俗字下側據反古文作詛釋名云祝屬也以善惡之辞相屬著也詛阻也謂使人行阻限於言也經文從口作咀音才與反咀嚼也非經義也)。
Curses and imprecations (祝詛: the first [character] is *zhu*, fanqie 之受. The Shuowen jiezi writes it as 詶, also meaning to curse; today written with the vulgar variant 咒. The second [character] is *zu*, fanqie 側據; ancient script writes it as 詛. The Shiming says: 'To invoke (祝) means to connect (屬), to attach good or bad words. To curse (詛) means to impede (阻), meaning to cause someone's actions to be hindered by words.' In the sūtra text it is written with the mouth radical 口 as 咀, pronounced fanqie 才與, meaning to chew, which is not the meaning of the sūtra).
