鉞斧（上員厥反下方矩反字林云鉞玉斧也尚書牧誓云王左杖黃鉞孔氏傳云鉞以黃飾斧也左手杖鉞示無事於誅也說文從金戉聲戉音同上從戈[戉-戈]聲[戉-戈]音厥）。

Battle-axe (鉞斧: the first [character] is *yue*, fanqie 員厥. The second [character] is *fu*, fanqie 方矩. The Zilin says: 'A jade battle-axe.' The 'Mu shi' of the Shangshu says: 'The king held the yellow battle-axe in his left hand.' Kong Anguo's commentary says: 'A battle-axe decorated with yellow. Holding the battle-axe in the left hand shows there is no intent to punish.' The Shuowen jiezi says it is derived from the metal radical 金 with 戉 as phonetic; 戉 has the same sound as above, and is derived from 戈 with [戉-戈] as phonetic; [戉-戈] is pronounced *jue*).
