盪滌（上徒朗反切韻云盪搖動也易曰八卦相盪滌也考聲洗盪也從皿湯在其上會意字皿明丙反經文從草作蕩藥名也非此用下徒歷反切韻淨也亦除也洗滌也）。

盪滌 (The first character has the fanqie tu + lang; the Qieyun says: “Dang means to shake or move.” The Yijing says: “The eight trigrams mutually agitate (dang) each other.” The Kaosheng says: “To wash and rinse.” It is an associative compound character composed of min [‘basin’] with tang [‘hot water’] atop it. Min has the fanqie ming + bing. In the scripture text it is written with the grass radical as 蕩, which is the name of a medicinal herb and not appropriate here. The second character has the fanqie tu + li; the Qieyun says: “Clean; also to remove; to wash clean.”)
