[示*厭]禱（上於琰反切韻𥜒禳也從示厭聲經文作厭音於豔反弃也惡也非𣝓禳字下都㬶反切韻求福也論語云禱於上下神祇也）。

[示*厭]禱 (The upper character has the fanqie 於琰 [y- + -(y)am = yǎn]; the Qieyun says: 'To exorcise or avert evil.' It is formed with the classifier 示 [altar/spirit] and phonetic 厭. In the sūtra text it is written as 厭, pronounced 於豔 [yàn], meaning to abandon or detest, not the character for exorcism. The lower character has the fanqie 都㬶 [d- + -(k)aw = dǎo]; the Qieyun says: 'To pray for blessing.' The Lunyu says: 'Praying to the celestial and terrestrial deities above and below').
